Challenges of packaging
At Stag Print our customers regularly come to us for help with their packaging challenges. In this blog we share some of the solutions that help them reach their goals.

Design appeal in packaging
The design appeal of packaging is an important element of promoting a product. The main job of design appeal is to attract attention and create a good first impression with a potential customer. This can be done by using bright, energy-driven packaging or a design that is unique and stands out, and at Stag Print we can help with this process by adding unique finishes such as: printing fluorescent colours, hot foil stamping, embossing, and spot UV varnishes.

We offer a wide range of foils if you are looking for more colour, take the eye-catching boxes we produce for the Vapouriz brands as an example which feature gold, silver and rainbow diffraction foils. The process of embossing can also help by ‘popping’ out the text on your box to make your packaging more distinctive when on the shelves.

Product protection
Product protection is critical to packaging, some products may need to be liquid proof while fragile goods may need an outer box for protection. The job of protective packaging is to act as a buffer between the product and any potential harm or damage during storage or transit. Protective packaging can make up either the main or secondary part of packaging.

The sleeves we produce for Mandira’s Kitchen are an important form of product protection. If the trays were stacked without the buffer of the cardboard sleeve, the plastic film on the top of the trays would easily be damaged, making the delicious frozen meals unsellable.

Sustainability
Sustainability is extremely important to us at Stag Print, and we do our part by using responsibly sourced materials wherever possible. Organisations like the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) promote sustainable forest management. Both these organisations are key in the fight for a sustainable future.

A good example is the kraft paperboard we use to produce packaging for Bare Bar which features a very short process journey from tree to board and is accredited by the PEFC.

Distribution and sale
Distribution needs to be done in an efficient manner, and packaging that will stack easily means savings in transportation costs, and also more product fitting on the shop shelves. Square and rectangular packaging can stack neatly together, and on top of each other, and so is often the most effective way.

This is something we considered when we began producing boxes for a well-known food supplement company as the products were initially packaged in bottles which made them difficult to transport and sell.
